Volkswagen is expanding the Arteon product range with a sporty station wagon version and at the same time giving the entire model family a facelift. The revision is particularly noticeable in the cockpit, VW has now published the first sketch from the outside.
In 2020 Volkswagen expanded the Arteon product range with a sporty station wagon version, the notchback received a facelift before it was no longer needed for the generation change – the Arteon successor would probably only be available as a station wagon.
The model update is now presented in June, and the fresh Arteon will come to the dealers shortly afterward. The Passat Coupé remains true to itself. The large badge cooler, which extends into the headlights, is style-defining. They come with an LED matrix option and revised luminaire graphics.

VW Arteon 2021 Interior
The front apron gets more profile with the facelift and no longer looks as round as with the pre-facelift model. There are also minimal retouches at the rear. The basic shape of the narrow LED taillights remains unchanged, they also only get a new graphic. Rear spoiler and apron are practically indistinguishable from the current model.
Too little differentiation from the technically related Passat in the interior was the most common criticism of the Arteon. According to VW, the four-door coupe for model maintenance gets a completely new cockpit landscape with an update to the current infotainment systems of the third generation modular infotainment system (MIB3). It should then fit better with the more dynamic body design of the flatter and longer Passat brother but should look similar to that of the luxury SUV Touareg.
Plug-in hybrid with a range of 55 kilometers
At the moment we can only speculate about drives. The Arteon is currently available in three engines. On the petrol side, there is a 1.5-liter TSI with 150 hp and a two-liter TSI with 272 hp. In the diesel engines, there is the two-liter four-cylinder turbo with 150 and 190 hp. A plugin version will probably be added to the body lift for all body variants. Its main features are known from the Passat GTE: a four-cylinder TSI shares the work with an electric motor, and together they produce 218 hp. Electrical range: 55 kilometers according to the WLTP standard.

The Arteon has silently established itself as a prettier option for the everyday look of the VW Passat. With the facelift, subtle technology update, and the new sports station wagon, the Arteon family could very quickly become “louder”.
