Porsche is once again adding the GTS to the Cayenne series. Instead of the V6, it now carries a V8 engine under the hood and, if desired, a sports exhaust under the rear center. The new Cayenne GTS models close the gap between the Cayenne as an S model and the Turbo and mark the entry into the V8 world in the large SUV and its coupé variant.
At Porsche, GTS stands for sportiness and exclusivity. To underpin the former, the new GTS models now have a V8 heart under the hood instead of the 3.6-liter V6 Biturbo from the previous model. The make 20 HP and 20 Nm more than the predecessor. The four-liter Biturbo with 460 hp and 620 Nm torque ensures significantly improved driving performance in all disciplines. The sprint from zero to 100 km / h is achieved by both GTS models with the Sport Chrono Package in 4.5 seconds, the top speed is 270 km / h. So 0.6 seconds faster and 8 km / h faster than its predecessor.
The right sound experience is provided by a GTS-specific configured sports exhaust system with tailpipes on the outside. Exclusively for the Cayenne GTS Coupé and in the future also for the Cayenne Turbo Coupé, a sports exhaust system with two centrally positioned oval tailpipes will be offered – each in conjunction with the optional lightweight sports package.
A performance-oriented steel spring suspension with 20 mm lowering, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) should provide more driving dynamics. Brake dynamics come as standard with a cast-iron brake system with 390 discs in the front and 358 discs in the rear with red-painted brake calipers, which are behind the black-painted 21-inch RS Spyder design alloy wheels. Optionally, a brake with a tungsten carbide coating or a ceramic brake is available. Air suspension with a lowering of ten millimeters, roll stabilization and rear-axle steering are also available at an additional cost.
The GTS models also have their unique look, which is based on a standard sports design package in combination with numerous black accents. The LED headlights and the strip of lights are darkened at the rear. The front air intakes, the side window strips, the tailpipes of the sports exhaust system, and the model or Porsche lettering on the rear are also basically black.
In the interior, the GTS models shine with Alcantara on the roof lining, on the seat center panels, on the armrests of the center console and the doors. Porsche also combines dark brushed aluminum, sports seats, GTS lettering on the front doors, the door sill guards, the rev counter, and the headrests.
The new Porsche Cayenne GTS models can be ordered now and will be at dealerships in early July. Prices start at 114,087 euros for the Cayenne GTS and 118,490 euros for the Cayenne GTS Coupé.
The Cayenne customers should be most pleased about the new GTS that it is wearing a V8 again. And that its sound is celebrated with the new exhaust system – optically spectacular in the middle if desired.
