Kia Stinger 2021: Changes for the Korean saloon

Kia Stinger 2021 debut. All those looking for a fun car, with a high level of feeling and remarkable performance, the range of Hyundai offers the i30 N. However, its cousins from Kia do not have a compact of these characteristics so that the A more appropriate option would be to move to a higher segment and opt for the Stinger GT, a model that has just presented a series of changes to become more interesting.

Slight aesthetic changes

A few months ago our spies put us on the track of this update by offering us some images in which a fairly camouflaged specimen was rolling around the Nürburgring circuit. Well, the Korean brand has just presented a mid-cycle update that comes with slight modifications both in its exterior and in certain areas of the cabin, without forgetting the mechanical section, although for now, we will have to wait to know all the details.

At the front, Kia has installed new LED headlights, sharper and with a dark background, which integrates daytime running lights. The most significant change takes place at the rear, where the brand’s designers have incorporated new pilots that are linked together by a strip of the led light. Inside them are the indicators arranged in a pattern that tries to imitate the appearance of a checkered flag. The Stinger also benefits from new 18-inch and 19-inch wheels, an additional exterior tone, and larger diameter silver tailpipes.

Inside, the highlight is the presence of a new infotainment system with a 10.25-inch touch screen, as well as a 7 ”digital instrument panel. The brand also introduces new upholstery and higher quality materials, as well as moldings that can be in aluminum or carbon fiber and contrasting stitching on the dashboard and door panels. The ambient lighting system now offers a choice of 64 different colors and the lower section of the steering wheel has a metallic finish.

Kia Stinger 2021 Engine

Concerning the mechanical section, far from taking as true a series of rumors that suggested that the Korean brand would forget about this car, everything indicates that improvements will be made in the different engines. The option of finding new engines is practically ruled out so that all the prominence will continue to fall on the 2.0 and 3.3-liter blocks, which will receive a slight increase in power.

This may not be to the liking of all those who still hope that the Genesis G80‘s 3.5-liter turbocharged V6, which makes 375 hp, will make its way under the Stinger GT’s hood. And the same goes for the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that Hyundai has ready for its next models, a mechanic with 300 hp that does not seem to reach Kia’s engine compartment either.

The Korean brand is expected to unveil the full details of this update in the coming weeks, including its new family of thrusters and technological advances. The car will go on sale later this year and prices have yet to come out.
