Going to have sport at DS. From next year, a few months after the commercial launch of the DS3 Crossback “classic” range, a high-performance derivative will be released under the DS Performance label.
To shine on the premium niche to which it aspires, the new DS3 Crossback has no choice: it must build its game under the hood. For now, its all-rival rival, the Audi Q2, keeps the advantage with a 2.0 TFSI engine of 190 hp, while the French peaks at only 155 hp via a modest 3-cylinder petrol PureTech. At the end of 2019, the DS Performance department will welcome the DS3 Crossback in its workshops to undergo an anabolic cure.
To inflate the DS3 Crossback’s technical sheet, its engineers will rely on the 1.6 PureTech 225hp 4-cylinder engine that already has its big brother DS7 Crossback. A mechanism that ensures the latter honorable performance, without being sporty, due to a weight greater than 1.4 T. If it cuts the 0 to 100 km / h in more than 8 seconds, the future DS3 Crossback Performance should dispatch the exercise within 7 seconds.
A stopwatch that will allow him to get closer to the 6.5 seconds that boasted the late DS3 Performance of 208 hp. The city car disappeared from the catalog, which the new SUV is supposed to replace, despite an approach that some would describe as unnatural. To erase its crossover attributes, and control its roll, the DS3 Performance will lower its center of gravity by a few millimeters, until using a limited-slip differential to increase the pace in the passages in curves.
Aesthetically, the DS3 Performance will see its bodybuilding curves, just like its pneumatic ride. A sporting treatment which will also benefit the passenger compartment, probably fitted with rear bucket seats, mixing leather and Alcantara.

Launched at the end of 2021, the future DS3 Crossback Performance will probably be exchanged for around forty thousand euros. A relatively affordable price compared to the high-performance derivative of the Audi Q2, estimated at almost 50,000 €, against which the French SUV will lack arguments.
