The new BMW M5 CS 2021 is here. The most performance version of the current 5 Series also becomes the most powerful in the history of the BMW M department thanks to its powerful 635 hp engine. Its arrival on the market is scheduled for next spring.
After several months of rumors and small advances in recent months, the firm of the propeller has finally revealed the new BMW M5 CS. Following the guidelines of famous surname CS, the Bavarian sports saloon receives increased power, lighter weight and specific set-up. It is a limited special edition of which the number of units that will go out of production and that receives the genes of models such as the BMW M2 CS and the BMW M4 CS is still unknown.
To achieve a correct balance between luxury and sportiness, BMW has endowed this model with a featured equipment that reveals its competition genetics. In the aesthetic section, the exterior of the new BMW M5 CS receives a series of subtle changes. On the one hand, both the frame that surrounds the characteristic kidneys and the gills of the front wings and the ‘M5 CS’ logos that we find on the grill and the boot lid are in Gold Bronze..
This same painting is used on the 20-inch forged alloy wheels, mounted on a set of Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires mixed size (275/35 R 20 on the front axle and 285/35 R 20 on the rear axle). Inside we can also appreciate some huge red brake calipers which, optionally, can also be painted in gold.
Besides the metallic gray paint Brands Hatch Gray, the BMW Individual customization department also makes available to its customers the exclusive matte paint finishes for the bodywork Frozen Brands Hatch Gray metallic and Frozen Deep Green metallic. The L-shaped light signature on BMW’s Laser headlights glows yellow instead of white when the low-beam, high-beam or welcome lights are switched on, nodding to their racing GTs. The new M5 CS comes standard with a stainless steel sports exhaust system with four real tailpipes.
When opening the doors, some backlit thresholds with the ‘M5 CS’ emblem they welcome the interior of the car. The cabin is just as striking as the exterior and features a number of specific design elements. The opening armrest found on the M5 has been replaced by a fixed cover upholstered in Merino leather with red stitching.
Another of the most striking details of the interior are the M Carbon sports seats with integrated head restraints. Both places include the Illuminated ‘M5 CS’ logo and engraved silhouette of the Nürburgring. The rear row of seats dispenses with the central square, so now the new M5 CS will be only four seats. The interior equipment is completed with Alcantara-trimmed sports steering wheel with Black Chrome trim. Behind him, some shift paddles finished in carbon fiber.
On a mechanical level, the new BMW M5 CS is powered by a 4.4-liter V8 engine of cubic capacity capable of developing 635 hp. This unit is associated with a 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission with Drivelogic and benefits from the use of all-wheel drive system M xDrive, which also allows you to set a configuration that sends all torque to the rear axle.
If we compare it with its brother, the M5 Competition, the CS version is 70 kilograms lighter. This has been achieved thanks to extensive use of lightweight materials such as carbon fiber reinforced plastic that we find on the hood, the front splitter, the housings of the rear-view mirrors, the spoiler, the rear diffuser, the engine cover or the shift paddles, among others. Further, the carbon-ceramic brake discs used on this model weigh 23 kg less than those on the M5 Competition.
With all this, the new sports saloon from the Munich firm announces a performance of heart attack. You just need 3.0 seconds to complete 0-100 km / h and 10.4 to reach 200 km / h.
