The new Audi Q5 2021 has been unveiled in society. The long-awaited mid-cycle update for the second-generation Audi SUV is now official. A facelift that brings with it great novelties that go far beyond the aesthetic section. We review how this popular luxury SUV has changed.
The wait is over. After a lot of spy photos and months of monitoring the development process, the new Audi Q5 2021 has finally been unveiled in society. The second generation of the popular Audi SUV gets a facelift. A mid-cycle update that will allow you to face the rest of the commercial life that lies ahead. The Q5 range is brought up to date in all aspects, design, technology, and much more.
One of the main objectives of Audi with the update of the Q5 is none other than to deepen its success. And we must bear in mind that we are talking about one of the best-selling luxury and medium-size SUVs in Europe for years. Now, how has it changed? Let’s take a look at the images that accompany this article and start with a look at the exterior design.
As it is a «facelift», the aesthetic innovations are concentrated in both the front and rear. Let’s put the crosshair on the front. The Singleframe grille has been modified to look shallower and gives a greater sense of width. The side air intakes have increased in height and, as it could not be otherwise, the optical groups have been updated and present a new luminous signature.
In regards to the rear, there is a decorative detail between the optical groups. The diffuser also has a new insert to transmit a more modern air. For the first time in the Q5 range, OLED technology will be optionally available for rear optics. And as standard, we have 17-inch alloy wheels.
On the other hand, and equally interesting, note that the customization options have been increased. Two new body colors have been added. They are as follows: District Green and Ultra Blue. The color palette now consists of a total of 12 shades. Also, the Black package is available as an option. Along with the basic finish level, we will have the S line and Advanced line termination.
Leaving the exterior aside, if we venture inside the new Q5 we will be enveloped by a luxurious and technological environment. There is very interesting news. It stands out, without a doubt, the new touch screen to manage the updated info-entertainment system. Changes have also been made to the central tunnel, such as the removal of a rotary control. There are three finishes for the interior: Base, Design selection, and S line. To this, we can add various optional packages.
At the technological level, it is a more advanced model. Audi has increased connectivity options. The most complete versions will have a 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit plus digital instrument cluster. And the third-generation infotainment platform (MIB 3) and the 10.1-inch central MMI touchscreen are key to making use of the MMI navigation plus system. In this way, we can access digital services online.
Through the myAudi application, we can remotely control various vehicle functions. And what about driving assistance systems? Well, the truth is that it is well served. We list below the most relevant systems that we can find in the Q5 range:
- Audi pre sense
- Turn assistant
- Involuntary Lane Departure Assistant
- Adaptive cruise control
- Predictive efficiency assistance
Audi Q5 2021 Engine
Electrification is present in the mechanical offer of the renewed German SUV. At its European commercial launch, the new Q5 will be available alongside a 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine (Q5 40 TDI) that develops 204 hp and 400 Nm of maximum torque. This mechanic is lighter and more efficient than the previous one.
To ensure a high level of efficiency, this block is electrified by 12-volt lightweight hybrid (MHEV) technology that reduces fuel consumption by 0.3 liters per 100 kilometers. It also has a double AdBlue dosing system for the treatment of exhaust gases. Complies with Euro 6d-ISC-FCM and EU 6 AP regulations.
The new Q5 40 TDI is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km / h in 7.6 seconds and reaching a top speed of 222 km / h. It is driven through a seven-ratio S Tronic dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It features a Quattro all-wheel-drive setup.
Once it reaches the market, Audi will improve the range by introducing more mechanics. There will be two other variants of the aforementioned four-cylinder 2.0 TDI engine as well as a V6 TDI block. Gasoline options will go through two 2.0-liter TFSI engines. And if that were not enough, the plug-in hybrid version, called TFSI e, will be present again.
To celebrate in style the commercial launch of the new Audi Q5 2021, the special edition Edition One will be marketed. It will present a different aspect and, above all, an extremely interesting equipment-price ratio. This version takes the S line finish level as a starting point and comes standard with the black package to provide a more elegant finish to the exterior trim.

Inside we will find sports seats.
