Three years have passed since the latest generation Ford Fiesta ST hit the market. Since then, the sportiest version of the American utility vehicle has become one of the benchmarks in the segment thanks to its excellent dynamic behavior. A perfect companion for relentless cornering and one of those cars that is synonymous with driving fun. Among its direct rivals we find models that have unfortunately recently been discontinued, such as the Renault Clio RS or the Peugeot 208 GTi.
Now, Ford has launched a new special edition that goes by the name of Fiesta ST Edition which adds an extra spice and from which only 500 units will reach the European market. Among the novelties included in this version we find a series of specific design elements. Further, will only be available with a three-door body.
It will be easy to recognize each unit corresponding to this termination since as standard the new Ford Fiesta ST Edition will come painted in color Azura Blue. The exterior of the car combines this tone with various details finished in gloss black such as the grill, the mirror caps, the rear diffuser, the ST emblems or the spoiler. He also wears some 18-inch diameter Ford Performance department signed black multi-spoke wheels. As advertised by the brand, each tire is 2 kg lighter than those mounted on a ‘conventional’ ST.
The interior opens new carbon fiber effect trims on the instrument panel and dashboard. To highlight, the Recaro sports seats that also have lumbar regulation and heating. For its part, the steering wheel, gear lever knob and handbrake lever are covered in leather and include blue stitching. This last detail is also visible on the door panels and the car mats.
The main novelty included in this special edition of the Fiesta ST is a new adjustable suspension. It’s about a Configurable helical system that has been developed by the engineering team of the brand sports division on the asphalt of the Nürburgring. This solution allows lowering the ground clearance by 15 mm at the front and 10 mm at the rear. In addition, it offers up to 12 bounce settings and another 16 recovery settings. In turn, the dual-tube shock absorbers that the sports utility mounts have been reinforced with stainless steel housings.
Ford also claims to have checked the car’s steering and brakes. In relation to the latter, 278 mm ventilated front discs and 253 mm solid rear discs have been installed. All this to try to extract the maximum dynamic behavior from the set and make this ST Edition version an attractive claim for fans of the brand.
The cocktail continues to optionally offer a limited slip differential (LSD) developed by Quaife with torque vectoring control that further enhances the Fiesta’s sporting performance. There is nothing new in the mechanical plane where we continue to find the 1.5 Ecoboost three-cylinder engine with 200 hp and 290 Nm of torque. This block is associated with a Manual gearbox with six gears which sends all the power to the front axle. This means that its benefits remain the same, completing the 0 to 100 km / h in 6.5 seconds and reaching a maximum speed of 232 km / h.
