The French firm has presented the first major update of the current generation of the Citroen C3 2021. A refreshment of half a life cycle that has meant for the French utility the premiere of important novelties in the aesthetic plane and numerous improvements in its mechanical and equipment offer. The renewed C3 will hit the market early this summer.
The French firm has today presented the new Citroen C3 2021, an important update that serves to notably refresh its offer and which includes both novelties in terms of aesthetics and the composition of the French utility catalog. Although the C3 is facing much newer rivals in the market, such as the SEAT Ibiza, the truth is that the French model cannot be considered old or outdated.
The current generation was introduced in 2016 and thanks to its daring design, much more modern and personal than that of its competitors, it still seems to be one of the youngest models in the segment. To date, more than 750,000 units of the C3 have been commercialized.
The most important novelty of this mid-life cycle update is its aesthetic facelift, which mainly affects the front. At the front, we find small changes in the upper area of the bumper, the grille, and new main optics, while at the rear we did not find any changes. On the sides, we can see how the Airbumps now have rectangular instead of square shapes.
Another novelty of the new Citroen C3 2021 is that its range of finishes and colors expands, allowing the brand to offer up to 97 different possible aesthetic combinations. Among these novelties, we find 2 new body colors (Elixir Red and Spring Blue), a new roof color (Emerald Blue) and a new color package for exterior accessories. So now the customer will be able to find at the dealership 7 body tones and 4 roof tones, which can be combined with the 4 color packages and the different graphic sets available for the roof and rear. In addition to the new 16-inch Helix and Matrix model wheels, the first in a two-tone finish, and also the Vector, which are only available in 17-inch.
In the interior, we did not find great changes, but the brand continues to offer different environments, which have specific materials and colors. What is new is the new Advanced Comfort seats, a direct inheritance of its older range brothers, the current Citroen C4 Cactus and Citroen C5 Aircross. These feature thicker fabrics and a thicker surface foam layer, with studied lumbar support in the backrests.
At the mechanical level, the new Citroen C3 2021 will not have new features and will continue to maintain the same offer as its predecessor, so we are going to find (according to markets) with 2 PureTech 83 and 110 HP gasoline engines with Start & Stop system, and a 100hp BlueHDi diesel, also with Start & Stop system. All gasoline mechanics will have a 6-speed manual transmission and only the diesel block will have a 5-speed manual transmission or the option to mount the EAT6 automatic transmission.
The new Citroen C3 2021 has several equipment innovations, among which we can highlight elements such as the new complete LED optics, including the turn signals or the new side Airbumps (depending on versions). Among others, the technological equipment of this new iteration of the C3 premieres:
- Front parking sensors
- Keyless access and start system
- Cruise control and speed limiter
- Emergency braking system
- Driver Attention Alert
- Automatic high beam
- Hill Assist System
- Rearview camera
- Blind Spot Alert
- Traffic sign recognition
Although the first opportunity to see the new model live will be at the already nearby 2021 Geneva Motor Show, this new iteration of the Citroen C3 will not hit the streets until next summer. According to the announcement of the French brand, the renewed C3 2021 will start its commercialization next June in Spain. As the launch date approaches, prices and other details of the range will be announced.
